I'm So Happy It's Happy Hour...

Happy Monday All!!

    As we embark on a new work week, I would like to take a moment to honor a most sacred pastime (and sanity saver, if I might add)...Happy Hour.  Before you think of me as a complete alchy, let me explain.  Happy hour is a time that you take to stop and unwind in the middle of your hectic schedule to catch up with your friends and family over a little bubbly or vino and forget for an hour and a half that you have a million things to do by 10AM tomorrow morning! Isn't that simply wonderful? I think so!  As an added bonus, some of the most beautiful bars and hotels offer happy hours so you can sit in a beautiful environment and enjoy (for half the price)!  Here are a few of my favorite spots for mid-week relaxation and some that I wish I could go to in a moments notice...

I love the Viceroy bar in Santa Monica... so fun!

The Lobby bar of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco... small, but very fun to sit at the bar at the end of a long day and people watch while sipping their infused vodka cocktails!

Shades of Gray...

Hello! 

   I can not believe that we are reaching the final days of January already! Man has this month has flown by! I recently have been overwhelmed with how beautiful California's mid-winter sunny days are and judging by the news reports, how the rest of the country is experiencing a gray sky, snow falling, freezing your patootie off kind of winter!  This got me thinking about shades of gray in interiors... maybe 60 days straight of gray skies might feel like torture, but inside it can really add warmth, peace, and tranquility!

Pantone Color of the Year...

Hello All! I am extremely excited to introduce to you the Pantone color of 2011!  Honeysuckle (18-2120 to be exact)!  Before you dismiss Honeysuckle as just another pink & girly color, you might want to hear what this cheery color is all about.  According to Pantone, Honeysuckle is "Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year."  Honeysuckle is also known to ward off feelings of stress and to invite positivity into your everyday life! I don't know about you, but I am a huge believer in the power of color psychology and this color seems to be perfect for getting back on track for 2011!

Wallpaper Me Wonderful...

Hello everyone! Today I am going to celebrate the wonders of wallpaper! I have always been a huge fan of wallpapering a room and usually when I express this to a client, they respond with "I'm not really a wallpaper person," but after opening there eyes to the beauty of wall coverings, 9 times out of 10 they end up with at least one space that is wallpapered!   I think the reason why I love wallpaper is that it can either be a quiet layer in a room becoming the underlying piece that makes the room work, or it can be the show stopper element that makes the overall statement with no questions asked! In short, wallpaper is wonderful!  Don't you think??
