Oh The Great Outdoors...

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm writing this post sitting by my window looking at the rain and wind whipping through my neighborhood and wishing for the summertime to be here!  Instead of going to happy hour tonight with friends inside by a fire (which is very cozy, don't get me wrong) I could be sitting outside in my backyard enjoying a bbq and sipping blood orange cocktails! Here are a few outdoor designs that have been calling my name as of late...
Simple and Casual with a Twist!

A great tip for choosing outdoor furniture is to pick pieces that evoke an interior feel.

Understated with an earthy vibe... I love how they used a tree stump for an  end table!

Tailored furnishings allow the view to be the focal point.  Draperies outside also add another element and texture to an outdoor space... P.S. If I had this view to look at every day, I would be one happy woman!

Using potted plants as accessories adds a charming feel to the space! Look at how genius the potted plant "chandelier" is!!

All I have to say is... without vines, this backyard would be just OK.  If you don't have any vines on your house/fence plant them immediately! In 2 to 3 years, you will be glad you did!

Jungle Book meets Hollywood Glam.  I adore the pink upholstered lounging areas off of the pool! Beautifully Romantic and bohemian!

Have an old wood deck that needs refinishing? Before you re-stain the wood, try painting a pattern on it to create an interesting area rug as your new focal point!

I want to be on that inter tube right this very minute!

Lush hedges and greenery really make this space inviting and beautiful! Notice again, the use of interior furnishings!  Oh... also,  the gravel makes for an almost European garden look!

I love the drapery and tassel detail... it really completes the look.  Don't you think?

The more pillows the better!

I would definitely have a dinner party in this backyard! I really like the use of potted plants and how they made their fence a focal point!

LOVE... I feel more relaxed just looking at this pic!

Now this is the way I would like to go camping!

Hopefully this got you dreaming of summertime!! Happy Weekend!

The Goddess of Print and Pattern Goes Home...

Print, Pattern, & Color... these are a few of my favorite things! Last night I was flipping through the March issue of Harper's Bazaar and noticed, to my delight, that prints and bold colors are the way the fashion world has decided to greet 2011's season of Spring!  One of the first people that came to my mind when I discovered this little tid-bit was Diane Von Furstenberg, the purveyor of all things patterned, colorful, and fun!  Today I would like to celebrate the launch of Diane Von Furstenberg's home collection! It just hit Bloomingdales this January and I am absolutely loving it! I hope you do to!

Be sure to check out her home textile collection...

I absolutely LOVE the leopard print plate!

DVF table scape.  Casual yet bold!

DVF recently designed rooms for Claridge's Hotel in London...

Notice how she has many patterns and colors, but it still has a classic look.  This is achieved by using classic furniture pieces and elements in the room and combining them with fun prints and colors!

A little throw back from the DVF 2008 collection... Love the color, Love the prints, Love it all!

Would you be my Valentine??

Happy Monday Everyone! In the spirit of Valentine's Day being just around the corner, I thought I would send out some interior design Valentine cards! Enjoy! xoxoxo

I love how whimsical and romantic this is!

I love those cornice boards on the windows!

Soft pink and florals...

Red and Pink... the ultimate Valentine's Day color scheme!

I just thought this was fun... I adore that color red!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm So Happy It's Happy Hour...

Happy Monday All!!
As we embark on a new work week, I would like to take a moment to honor a most sacred pastime (and sanity saver, if I might add)...Happy Hour.  Before you think of me as a complete alchy, let me explain.  Happy hour is a time that you take to stop and unwind in the middle of your hectic schedule to catch up with your friends and family over a little bubbly or vino and forget for an hour and a half that you have a million things to do by 10AM tomorrow morning! Isn't that simply wonderful? I think so!  As an added bonus, some of the most beautiful bars and hotels offer happy hours so you can sit in a beautiful environment and enjoy (for half the price)!  Here are a few of my favorite spots for mid-week relaxation and some that I wish I could go to in a moments notice...
I love the Viceroy bar in Santa Monica... so fun!

Oh the WaterBar in San Francisco... This pic does NOT do this bar justice!
A view of the Bay Bridge, sea glass pendants, and blue velvet barstools...

The Lobby bar of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco... small, but very fun to sit at the bar at the end of a long day and people watch while sipping their infused vodka cocktails!

One of the many bars at the Winn Las Vegas...

The bar in Sinatra at the Encore Las Vegas... I haven't been yet, but I love Frank Sinatra and it looks like so much fun!

The Viceroy Hotel Miami...  Refreshing color!

I Love Love Love this! The S Bar in LA... by Philippe Starck!

Minus 5 Ice Bar in Las Vegas... wouldn't you like to sit in a fur coat sipping vodka in a bar literally made of ice?

Le Royal Monceau, Paris

Le Bar 228, Paris...

The very colorful and exciting Kong Restaurant in Paris... I want to go so badly!

The Hudson Hotel in NYC... Isn't this amazing? I feel like I'm in the middle of a tree house!

Now where are you going to happy hour this week? (I'm thinking Paris...)!

Happy Monday!
